Jeremy Yurosek
Co-Founder & Co-CEO
Jeremy Yurosek has been involved in the farming industry since early childhood. In 2007, Jeremy rejoined his family’s farming operation full-time after spending 10+ years as director of operations for a ski resort and hospitality management company. As a third-generation farmer Jeremy co-founded Canopy Ag in 2016, which boasts over 13,000 acres under Yurosek family ownership and management of permanent crops. He later co-founded Universal Irrigation and helped to merge Universal with Laurel Ag, which is now one of the largest irrigation companies in the San Joaquin Valley. In January 2024, Jeremy Yurosek co-founded Torrent Irrigation Co., a full-service irrigation and development company. In 2024, Jeremy also co-founded MAVRK Capital to modernize the global fresh produce supply chain. He helps lead the agricultural acquisitions and development departments of both MAVRK and Canopy AG. Jeremy studied at the University of Nevada Reno and San Diego Mesa College in both Agriculture and Business Management.
Devon Yurosek
Devon Yurosek is a third-generation farmer based in Bakersfield, CA. He began his career with Nunhems Vegetable Seeds, working in product and market development and sales, in Salinas, CA and Australia. There he was responsible for Oceana and South Africa. In 2013, Devon relocated back to California to support his family’s farming business and later co-founded Canopy Ag, a 13,000 acre permanent crop farm management business. Devon has a passion for improving farming through technology, plant and soil health. He is a founding member and Treasurer of the Eastside Water Management Area and a member of California Ag Leadership Foundation, Class 45. Devon has a degree in Agricultural Business from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Brian Neufeld is part of the farm management team and helps oversee citrus farming operations, develops budgets and crop production plans, and provides customer relations. As a founding partner of Canopy Ag, he brought his knowledge and relationships of the citrus business to the benefit of our clients. He has been a Sumo grower since 2012. Brian has been in professional farm management since 2009. He holds a Pest Control Business (PCB) license and a California Real Estate license, recently becoming a broker. Additionally, he is an advisor/consultant for institutional and private equity investors as a specialist in the permanent crop ag space. Brian graduated from Cal Poly, SLO in 2002 with a BS degree in Ag Systems Management. He lives in Exeter, Ca. He is also a member of California Ag Leadership Foundation, Class 45, and a board member of California Citrus Mutual since 2013.

Steve Powers
Steve Powers is the Controller for Canopy Ag and has been with the company since 2020. He brings nearly a decade of public accounting experience working with agricultural businesses of varying size and complexity. Steve holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). In his role, he oversees accounting operations and financial reporting for Canopy Ag’s managed farm properties, ensuring accurate reporting and strong financial controls.

Edtmer Medel
Assistant Controller
Edtmer graduated from CSU Bakersfield with a BS in Accounting and Finance in 2017. His career began in public accounting where he specialized in the agriculture industry and State & Local Tax Compliance for 6 years. Edtmer has been with Canopy Ag since 2023 supporting our Controller by managing daily accounting & financial operations and assisting with Canopy Ag’s managed farm properties.
Mercedes Macias
Mercedes earned her degree in Business Accounting from CSU Bakersfield. She provides reliable, detail-oriented accounting support backed by years of experience in public accounting. She joined Canopy Ag in 2024 as a staff accountant, where she focuses on accounting for custom farming labor and irrigation system installation and repair, bringing a practical and organized approach to accurate financial reporting.

Lauren Bono
After graduating from Fresno State University, Lauren began her professional career as a payroll and accounting specialist for an electrical engineering firm. Since being hired by Canopy Ag in the Fall of 2021, her list of responsibilities includes managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, time-tracking, and payroll, as well as assisting with other duties associated with farm-management.

Southern Division - Operation Manager
Bill Dewey was born and raised in Riverdale, CA, and grew up around farming and trucking. After his father passed in 1989, he took over the family ranch. He has worked in farming, trucking, and heavy equipment—eventually becoming a Branch Manager—and for the past 15 years has served as a ranch manager. He loves the teamwork, being outdoors, and the excitement of harvest. Bill is also proud to have served 25 years as a Volunteer Firefighter and retired as Fire Chief. He has two great kids and a 9-month-old granddaughter. He’s happy to be back in Bakersfield and working with Canopy Ag.
Blake Turner
Blake worked as a field scout in citrus for Sun Pacific from 2010 to 2017. In 2017, he earned his pest control advisor’s license and was promoted to PCA. Blake joined Canopy Ag in 2020 and manages all aspects of Canopy’s conventional and organic pest control program as well as overseeing our field scout staff.

Luis Arroyo
Agronomist/Certified Crop Advisor/Assistant Farm Manager
Luis E. Arroyo is an Agronomist and Assistant Farm Manager at Canopy Ag LLC, supporting the management of citrus, almonds, pistachios, and pomegranates. He works directly with ownership to help optimize orchard performance through disciplined agronomic planning and execution. Luis is responsible for fertilizer and irrigation programs, soil and tissue sampling, nutrition trials, budgeting and procurement, spray coordination, field scouting, and food safety audits. His approach is grower-focused and data-driven, with an emphasis on efficiency, cost control, and clear communication between the field and ownership. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness and is a Certified Crop Adviser (CCA), Pest Control Adviser (PCA), and licensed Private Applicator. Luis believes effective farm management comes from treating every operation as if it were your own—doing what is right for the land, the crop, and the client.
Filiberto Carranza
Filiberto has worked with the Yurosek Family and Canopy for more than 30 years as their head ranch foreman. He has a wealth of knowledge in tree pruning and training, equipment operation and supervision, ranch development, and general farming practices. Filiberto overseas all of Canopy’s Kern County farms and has additional experience in machine and irrigation repair and maintenance.

Rafael Cruz Morales (Raf)
Southern Divison - Ranch Foreman & Irrigation Specialist
Rafael has been with Canopy for 6 years as a ranch foreman. He is responsible for irrigation maintenance and repair for most of Canopy’s ranches in Kern County and Tulare County. Prior to joining Canopy, Rafael worked as an agricultural irrigation field tech and crew leader for 9 years. Rafael also has experience in welding, filter stations, and reservoir construction.
